Deputy President William Ruto has vowed not to quit government despite humiliation from President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odnga. Speaking during a secret held meeting in Lumo Wildlife Conservancy, Mwatate constituency in Taita Taveta county, the DP confessed he was facing humiliation as Uhuru’s deputy and blamed some of his woes on the Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

In a meeting that journalist were barred from attending,Ruto reiterated his committment in ensuring his 2022 quest for the top seat is left with no doubts

“I will not quit government despite the humiliation. I wonder why Raila and the president are taking issue with my quest for the top seat yet I supported them through thick and thin in past years,” said Ruto.

\”I once supported Raila, as he was the son of a former Vice President. I supported Uhuru, as he was the son of a former president. But they are taking issue in supporting a son of a hustler,” he quipped. The DP did not waste time to take a swipe at the former prime minister, saying he could not understand why God fearing people of Taita Taveta would vote for a \”mganga\” (witch doctor) for all those years.

The low profile meeting was attended by Taita Taveta leaders including Taveta MP Naomi Shaban, Taita Taveta Woman Rep Haika Mizighi and several other MCAs affiliated to Ruto. Area governor Granton Shamboja who once worked for Ruto (at Milele FM) has switched sides and he is now a Raila Odinga diehard supporter and a pro-Uhuru for Prime Minister lobby.
