Kenya’s domestic aviation space has received a fresh entrant boost after Fly 748.com officially resumed scheduled passenger flights, promising affordable fares and dependable service as competition in the skies intensifies.

The airline marked its return on May 1, 2026, with its first flights departing Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Mombasa and Ukunda. The relaunch comes at a time when demand for domestic air travel is rising, driven by business activity, tourism, and increased movement across counties.

Fly 748 is positioning itself as a practical option for everyday travelers by focusing on cost-friendly fares, a move expected to attract passengers who have long complained about high domestic flight prices. The airline says its goal is to make air travel more accessible without compromising on safety and reliability.

At the heart of its operations is a team of experienced and dedicated pilots, a factor the airline believes will restore confidence among travelers. The company is banking on disciplined operations, smooth take-offs and landings, and strict adherence to safety standards to stand out in a competitive market.

Head of Fly 748.com George Oduor said the airline is drawing from years of experience operating in complex environments, including humanitarian missions, to deliver a structured and predictable service. He noted that this experience has shaped how the airline handles scheduling, aircraft turnaround, and overall operational efficiency.

The initial routes to Mombasa and Ukunda are expected to serve as a starting point, with plans already in place to expand frequencies and introduce new destinations as demand grows. The airline is also exploring the use of larger aircraft to accommodate increasing passenger numbers.

Chairman Ahmed Jibril said the return of Fly 748 will improve connectivity to the Coast, making it easier for both business travelers and tourists to move between key destinations. He added that the airline aims to serve a wide range of passengers, from corporate clients to families and holidaymakers.

The relaunch also comes with a renewed focus on customer experience. The airline has introduced streamlined booking processes, improved scheduling, and plans for a loyalty program to reward frequent travelers.

Managing Director Moses Mwangi said the airline’s growth strategy will be gradual and controlled, ensuring that service quality is maintained as operations expand. He added that while Fly 748 builds its presence in scheduled aviation, it will continue supporting humanitarian and specialized missions across the region.

Industry players say the airline’s return could inject much-needed competition into Kenya’s domestic aviation market, potentially driving down ticket prices and improving service delivery across the sector.

With rising demand for faster and more efficient travel, Fly 748 is betting on a combination of affordability, experienced crew, and operational discipline to win back passengers.
