KCB Bank has committed KSh3 million towards the second edition of the Run 4 Seniors initiative organized by Mama Ibado Charity, strengthening efforts to improve the lives of vulnerable elderly Kenyans.
The sponsorship comes ahead of the charity run scheduled for July 18, 2026, at Karura Forest in Nairobi, where hundreds of participants are expected to take part in raising funds and awareness for senior citizens facing economic and healthcare challenges.
The annual event has emerged as one of the country’s leading platforms dedicated to championing the welfare of older persons. It brings together corporates, families, fitness enthusiasts and well-wishers in a collective effort to support elderly people who often struggle to access adequate healthcare, nutrition and social support.
Speaking during the sponsorship handover ceremony, Run 4 Seniors Chairman Moses Mwangi described the partnership as a significant milestone in the campaign to improve the quality of life of senior citizens across Kenya.

He said the support from KCB demonstrates the growing recognition of the challenges facing elderly persons and the important role that private sector organizations can play in addressing those needs.
Mama Ibado Charity President Ahmed Jibril noted that the funds raised during the event will support programs focused on healthcare, nutrition, psychosocial support and community outreach.
According to Jibril, many elderly people face serious hardships due to poverty, illness and limited access to healthcare services. He said the charity’s mission is to ensure that senior citizens live with dignity and receive the support they need during their later years.
The organization has already made a notable impact through its Seniors Feeding Program, which has supported more than 2,000 elderly beneficiaries while positively affecting over 5,000 family members who depend on them. The charity currently runs programs in Isiolo and Kakamega counties, targeting some of the most vulnerable senior citizens in the country.
KCB Foundation Director Mendi Njonjo said the bank remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote dignity, inclusion and wellbeing for vulnerable groups in society.

She emphasized that senior citizens deserve recognition for their contribution to nation-building and called on more organizations and individuals to join efforts aimed at supporting older persons.
This year’s Run 4 Seniors will feature 5-kilometre, 10-kilometre and 15-kilometre race categories, giving participants an opportunity to support a worthy cause while promoting healthy lifestyles.
Organizers expect a larger turnout than last year’s inaugural event, which attracted significant support from corporates, community groups and members of the public. The growing popularity of the initiative reflects increasing awareness of the challenges facing Kenya’s ageing population.
With the country’s elderly population continuing to grow, stakeholders say stronger partnerships between charities, businesses and communities will be essential in ensuring that older persons are not left behind.
Mama Ibado Charity and KCB have called upon corporates, institutions and members of the public to register for the event and contribute towards improving the lives of vulnerable senior citizens across the country.
