Hundreds of vulnerable families in Kibera have received a major boost after SportyBet Kenya rolled out a food distribution programme aimed at easing the burden of the rising cost of living.
Working alongside professional boxer Alfayo Siwo, the company distributed food packages to more than 350 households, benefiting over 700 people living in the informal settlement.
Each family received essential food items including maize flour, rice, cooking oil, sugar and bar soap, providing much-needed relief to households struggling with the current economic pressures.
The initiative also extended support to young girls, with more than 400 students receiving sanitary pads to promote menstrual hygiene and help reduce school absenteeism.
SportyBet Kenya said the programme is part of its commitment to supporting communities beyond sports sponsorships by investing in initiatives that directly improve people’s lives.

Professional boxer Alfayo Siwo, who has become a familiar face in Kibera through his youth mentorship programmes, joined the distribution exercise and encouraged young people to remain focused on building better futures.
Siwo, who gained regional recognition after competing in Vurugu 2, East Africa’s premier boxing event powered by SportyBet, said he was grateful for the company’s continued support.
He noted that the partnership has not only contributed to his boxing career but has also enabled him to give back to the community by mentoring young talent and participating in programmes that create opportunities for youth.
Residents welcomed the initiative, saying the food packages would go a long way in helping families cope with the increasing cost of basic commodities.
SportyBet Kenya said it intends to replicate similar community outreach programmes in other parts of Nairobi and across the country as it expands its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The company noted that supporting food security, youth empowerment and menstrual health remains part of its broader effort to make a positive impact in the communities where its customers and fans live.
As many families continue to grapple with economic challenges, the Kibera outreach has been welcomed as a practical intervention that delivered immediate assistance to households most in need.
