Shock as Sonko lawyer shifts loyalty to Ag Governor Kananu in impeachment case amid bribery claims

It has now emerged that a top lawyer of former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has now shifted loyalty to acting Governor Anne Kananu.

Cecil Miller of Miller and Company Advocates who was recently paid Sh 53 million in pending bills by Kananu’s administration is now said to be working round the clock to ensure Sonko’s case challenging his impeachment flops in court.

It’s claimed that Miller was recently paid twice by Kananu, totalling to Sh 53 million in pending bills on condition that he delivers Sh 25 million to Justice Joseph Sergon who allegedly delivered the money to Justice Weldon Korir in order to rule in favour of Kananu in the case filed by Sonko to overturn his impeachment.

Miller who recently met a Nairobi City County Government legal officer at United Kenya Club near University of Nairobi, was overheard telling the legal officer that he delivered part of his legal fees payments by the County Government to Judges to ensure Kananu is sworn in as Governor once the Sonko case against his impeachment is defeated.

However sources indicate, Miller and Justice Sergon swindled the Sh25 million that was meant for Justice Korir, since Justice Korir rejected the bribe in order to rule in favour of Kananu. Justice Korir is said to be a strict Judge who cannot be easily bribed by lawyers to favour their clients.

Miller is said to be in constant communication with Justice Sergon in a bid to ensure Sonko loses his court case that’s aimed at overturning his impeachment. But the lawyer is now in trouble since he failed to convince Justice Korir to take a bribe.

The ruling of the Sonko impeachment case at the high court will be delivered on 24th of June.

Miller and Company Advocates was among 17 law firms which were recently paid millions by Kananu amid uproar by contractors who haven’t been paid billions of shillings in the pending bills.

Despite being paid millions of shillings by the Nairobi City County Government, Miller has never won a single case in favour of the County leading to loss of tax payers money.
