Former Kisumu Governor Jack Nyanungo Ranguma’s family is in mourning. Ranguma lost her second-born daughter, Sonia Ranguma on Saturday.
“We are in mourning. We have lost Sonia although more details are yet to be released. She was an adult, Mzee’s second-born,” said a person close to the family who requested to remain anonymous.

Ranguma served as the first Kisumu County governor from 2013 to 2017, before he lost to former Kisumu Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o in the gubernatorial race.
In his condolence message to Ranguma and his family, governor Nyong’o asked all to join hands in prayers on behalf of the former governor’s family at this point in time.
“On behalf of the people of Kisumu, I wish to convey my heartfelt condolence to the Ranguma family for the demise of Sonia. Let us all join in prayers so that God can give the family and relatives the strength to bear the heavy loss,” said Nyong’o.
He termed the late Sonia as a very focused, disciplined and professional lady.
